Len Holmes

Len Holmes is an Associate Professor in the UNC Pembroke Department of Chemistry and Physics. During his twenty years' tenure he has been active in research, service and teaching. He is successful in obtaining extramural funding from federal, state and regional agencies, and has brought greater than $3m in grants, contracts and gifts to the university for biotechnology development. Dr. Holmes' most significant contribution was the opening of the UNCP Biotechnology Research and Training Center (COMtech Park) in 2009. This 5,000 square foot laboratory conducts research focused especially on agricultural biotechnology with main investments in fermentation technology, nematology, applied microbiology and honey bees. He directs undergraduate research and collaborative work with technicians and doctoral-level colleagues. Dr. Holmes is the author of numerous research papers and has presented his work at national and international venues.
